Main International Airports in Moscow, Russia (2026)

Main International Airports in Moscow Russia

Moscow is served by three main international airports — Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo — plus the smaller Zhukovsky, which mostly handles low-cost and charter routes rather than the international traffic most visitors will use.

Here’s what to expect from each of the three main ones.

Sheremetyevo (SVO)

Moscow’s largest airport and the main hub for Aeroflot and most international carriers, located northwest of the city. The Aeroexpress train connects it to Belorussky station in around 35 minutes.

Domodedovo (DME)

South of the city, about 42 kilometres from the centre, handling a large share of both domestic and international traffic. The Aeroexpress runs from Domodedovo to Paveletsky station in around 45 minutes.

Vnukovo (VKO)

Southwest of the city centre, with its own Aeroexpress connection as well as bus and metro links.

Getting into the city

The Aeroexpress trains are the fastest and most predictable option from any of the three airports. Official airport taxi services operate 24/7 at fixed rates — book through the airport’s own taxi desk rather than accepting an approach from someone in the terminal.

Uber does not operate in Moscow. Yandex Go is the ride-hailing app most people use instead, though it requires a Russian phone number to register and doesn’t accept foreign cards. If you land without a Russian SIM yet, the Aeroexpress or metro is the simplest way into the city on day one.

Before you fly

Confirm your visa, invitation letter and travel insurance are sorted well before booking, and carry printed copies of everything along with your passport.
